My name is Cheryl Goresko Woodford, Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, and owner of Hands Together Piano Studio.

I have been teaching children, teens and adults since 1993 from a beautiful, conveniently-located, home-based studio in Willow Grove, PA.

I specialize in teaching classical piano lessons, with an emphasis on reading music easily, knowing chords and music theory, and learning to play piano beautifully with great technique.

You can learn to play songs in a wide variety of styles: from Harry Potter and Star Wars, to classical pieces like Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata, new age pieces like A River Runs Through It, or church hymns and Broadway tunes.

My goal is for you to play pieces you like with enjoyment, ease and confidence, beginning with your first lesson, and to avoid common technical problems that anyone without an experienced, knowledgeable teacher would make.

I want to introduce you to great music, to enjoy lessons and to love learning piano. I want you to be motivated to practice and to make music an important part of your life.

There are many piano studios offering classical piano lessons? What is unique about me (Cheryl Woodford) and Hands Together Piano Studio?

I am a dedicated, gifted, full-time teacher, with a lifetime of experience playing and teaching piano. I have taken lessons most of my life and will never stop striving to play and teach better. My style is down to earth, engaging, flexible and challenging. I want students to enjoy lessons and the songs they are learning, so they will stick with piano and have all the benefits that playing piano brings. The greatest feeling is when my students leave their lessons smiling! I want to teach my students everything they need to know to be great piano players and to be able to play whatever they like. I will always give choices of songs to learn. I am happy to help with any music that students need to learn for school or church. I love when students talk to me and ask questions!

I request that parents attend lessons for the first few years so they will know how their child is supposed to practice at home. Learning piano is like a 3-legged stool. It requires a willing student, a compatible teacher, and very supportive parents.

Besides loving piano, my specific goals for students are to read music fluently, to play easily with great technique, to have a good understanding of music theory, to play songs they love, and to be comfortable playing for others.

One of my former students is now a full time piano teacher. Another had a lead role this year in The Addams Family musical at her high school. One sings in they Keystone State Boys Choir. Many students play additional instruments - violin, saxophone, drums, flute and ukelele.

I also teach many adult students. Many have come back to piano after playing as a child. Many have started from scratch, even in their 50's and 60's.

I have enjoyed living in Willow Grove since 1984. This is a lovely quiet neighborhood, easy to get to, with plenty of available parking. My youngest student now is about 7 and my oldest is about 70. The youngest student I ever taught was 3 and the oldest was 85.

"I began taking lessons from Cheryl six years ago after I retired, and I am so glad I did. Learning the piano requires patience, repetition and practice. It also requires a teacher who is patient, caring and understands the process of learning to play, plus the myriad of things required like concentration, proper fingering, counting and reading music. Cheryl has provided me with all the things to make my learning possible."
- Lilianne Ager, Huntingdon Valley

"Excellent curriculum, relaxed atmosphere and my daughter has absolutely thrived with Cheryl's teaching style. I would recommend this studio to anyone looking to learn piano."
